RP - Residence permit (Karta Pobytu)

RP - Residence permit (Karta Pobytu) is a permit to stay in Poland for more than 90 days and to cross the border of the Polish Republic without obtaining additional visas, as well as legally stay in Poland for a period specified on the card. To conduct business or get employed

Types of Karta Pobytu:

  • Temporary stay card (Karta czasowego Pobytu) - the document is issued for a period of 90 days to three years. In order to obtain the card, you need to provide the following documents: a valid work contract (e.g. Umowa o pracę), a work permit (zaświadczenie, zezwolenie), a document confirming your university studies or long-term Polish language courses or other, a document confirming family reunification or scientific activity.
  • Long-term resident's card of the European Union (zezwolenie na pobyt rezydenta długoterminowego Unii Europejskiej) - the document can be obtained if a foreigner has been legally and continuously residing in Poland for the last 5 years. It is necessary to prove a permanent source of income.
  • Blue Card (Niebieska karta UE) - a document issued on the basis of work, but issued for professions requiring high qualifications. Under certain conditions, it provides free access to the Polish job market.

Advantages of Karta Pobytu:

  • no need to extend (obtain) a visa for the period of validity of the Card
  • multiple entries and exits from Poland and back
  • possibility of going to Schengen countries for up to 90 days within half a year, without drawing up additional documents
  • the ability to apply for visas to the U.S. and British embassies on the territory of Poland (under certain conditions)
  • Citizens of Ukraine have more opportunities to buy real estate, obtain loans, including mortgages, buy their own vehicles, etc.
  • the right to run their own business
  • possibility of opening national visas for close relatives
  • prolongation in Poland, i.e. it is not necessary to take the child abroad, to spend time on visa registration, to skip school, etc., while waiting for the decision to put a stamp in the passport, on the basis of which the stay in Poland is considered legal. Only with one stamp (under certain conditions) you can continue to work, and it allows children to safely continue their studies.
In any case, it is a more convenient tool than the usual visa, allowing parents not to part with their children while working in Poland, and children to receive education in accordance with the age standards.

Who can apply for the Karta Pobytu:

  • A foreigner who is officially employed in Poland and has a long-term contract
  • husband or wife of a Polish citizen
  • husband or wife of a citizen of another country with permanent residence status (Karta c Stałego Pobytu) under the family reunification program
  • a student admitted as a full-time student to a university or a long-term Polish or other language course.
  • a foreigner who has his own business on the territory of Poland
